New Student FAQ! Everything you need to know before you arrive for your first lesson is here.

If you have not already received an email from me accepting you as a new student, please visit this page to join my waiting list or check my group lesson schedule. Thanks!

I’m looking forward to seeing you at your scheduled lesson! You will receive email reminders (and if you have provided a cell phone number, text reminders) prior to your lesson. Here are some next steps!

Submitting your information to the RECenter so they can process your payments:

Please file your FCPA request form, here: https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/recenter/private-lesson-request. All families must have one on file. Please put my name (Meghan Gray) in the “instructor preference box” and please put “George Washington” in the “location” box to ensure your request is not sent to someone else instead. Cost information is also available on that page, at the bottom above the “submit” button.

Ignore the message saying you will hear from a swim coordinator- we have already skipped that step!

You can purchase your lesson package in person or by phone any time, including just before your first lesson. The front desk processes all the payments but has no access to my calendar.

At your lesson time:

Please allow extra time when arriving if you have not already purchased your lesson package. It doesn’t take long, but if there is a line at the desk, you could be held up. They will print a lesson slip for you to bring to me. I turn that in with my time sheet, so if they aren’t able to print one for some reason, they should either write a note or offer to bring it out when it’s done.

I will meet you on the pool deck. If you have any trouble locating me, please ask anyone in a shirt that says “instructor” on the back, or look into the lifeguard office and ask whoever is in there to point me out.

What about future lessons?

You can book as many lessons that work for you from what is available on my calendar. Future dates are released about 2 weeks before the start of a new session, and you’ll receive an email to let you know they are available.

COVID safety:

I am fully vaccinated for COVID 19 as of April 1, 2021, and I will be receiving all recommended boosters on schedule. Patrons and staff are currently NOT required to wear masks inside the RECenter. All staff are required to be fully vaccinated. Children who are feverish or who have been ill with diarrhea in the past two weeks should not swim. Other symptoms are down to your judgement or that of your family doctor, but please know I support you making the best decision for your family regarding staying home when ill.

I clean all equipment between students. If shared equipment is a concern for you please feel free to bring your own equipment. I can offer recommendations upon request.
